About Opera Memphis: Chorus
OPERA MEMPHIS CHORUS
The Opera Memphis Chorus is a talented group of over one hundred members. Trained by Chorus Master Stephen Carey, the chorus is continuing to evolve into an entertaining, engaging and integral part of our productions. Each member of the chorus involved in a particular opera receives an artist fee for his or her commitment.
Within the chorus is a smaller group of advanced singers who lead their sections in terms of diction, musicality and memory. These section leaders have advanced sight-reading skills, show proficiency in the languages and guide the other chorus members with their presence and knowledge of the music. Section leaders receive an additional artist fee for their service.
Membership is by audition at the conclusion of each opera season or by appointment throughout the year. Chorus members are usually over the age of eighteen, although exceptions can be made. To schedule an audition, please contact Jonathan Ealy, Chorus Manager, at (901) 257-3100 x107.
