Clark Opera Memphis Center
6745 Wolf River Parkway • Memphis, TN 38120

The Opera Memphis Chorus is a group of over one hundred local singers chosen to perform in the company’s mainstage productions alongside principal singers from all over the globe. Trained by Chorusmaster Stephen Carey, each member of the chorus cast in an opera receives an artist fee for his or her commitment. Members are typically over the age of eighteen, although exceptions can be made in some cases.

Within the chorus is a smaller group of section leaders. These advanced singers lead their sections in diction, musicality and memory. They have advanced sight-reading skills, show proficiency in the opera’s language and guide other chorus members with their presence and knowledge of the music. Section leaders receive an additional artist fee for their service.

Interested singers are asked to prepare two selections, one aria and one art song. Sight-reading & Italian diction tests will also be administered during the audition. An accompanist will be provided. To set an audition appointment, contact Chorus Manager Jonathan Ealy at 901.202.4536 or jonathanealy@operamemphis.org.
