30 Days of Opera

We are in the process of filling up the calendar for 30 Days of Opera 2017! As in years past, 30 Days of Opera will take place in September and feature multiple events each day. If you would like us to consider singing at a venue or event that you manage, please email Sarah Squire.

Opera for kids: The

Playground King

The Playground King tells the story of four kids playing games on a playground. Well, it's really three kids trying to play and one being a bit of a bully. This family show is a yearly tradition as part of 30 Days of Opera, with families planning to see it year after year!

2017 performance dates TBD.

featured opera: menotti's

The Telephone

All Ben wants is to propose to his girlfriend, Lucy, before he heads of on a trip. When he goes to her apartment and tries to propose, though, he gets interrupted by a constant stream of phone conversations. Will he be able to get her attention for a minute?

Sound familiar?

Performance dates TBD.

Opera at the

Levitt Shell

Every year since the very beginning, 30 days of Opera has featured a concert at Memphis' iconic Levitt Shell. This event gives us the perfect opportunity to do what we do best: combining the best of opera with such entertaining gems as Edith Piaf songs and Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.

So What's the deal with

30 Days of Opera?

30 Days of Opera is exactly what it sounds like: 30 days of totally awesome - totally FREE - performances by Opera Memphis. For the entire month of September, we take the show on the road - singing all over Memphis and the MidSouth. We like to say that we spend the month turning the "opera house inside out," and it could not be more true! Whether we are at a large community festival, singing on a street corner, or doing a show of The Playground King (our original children's opera), we'll be somewhere near you! Explore this website to learn more, and plan to see us again next year!

Supported by OPERA America's Building Audiences Grant Program, supported by the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation.
