Opera Memphis Education Programs immerse students—from Pre‑K through high school—in the world of live opera. From our Masterclasses to our Summer Opera Intensive to our Student Night at the Opera, our professional artists and instructors share their love for music and story.

Core Program Components

Student Matinee
Little Red's Most Unusual Day

In partnership with the Orpheum Theatre Group, Opera Memphis presents a fun and interactive introduction to opera through the story of Little Red where you’ll learn the basics and discover what makes opera so magical.

The Black Roots of Opera

Blending history with artistic expression to inspire and educate, this program celebrates pioneering Black opera artists through storytelling and live performance for audiences of all ages.

Masterclasses

A flexible and interactive session designed to meet the unique needs of your students, your classroom, your school!

Summer Opera Intensive

A two-week intensive, in partnership with the University of Memphis, for rising 7th through 12th grade students. Participants rehearse and stage a full production with professional artists, then perform for the public on the final day.

Student Night at the Opera

An evening that brings students to a live Opera Memphis performance. Schools and community groups serving youth come to the theater to hear the company on stage, building familiarity with opera outside the classroom.
